Toyota is replacing rusty frames on Tundras too

Autoblog.com is reporting that Toyota is now replacing frames on some rusty Tundras too.  This doesn’t come as a complete surprise considering the damage I personally saw when attempting to buy a used Tundra in Pennsylvania.

Toyota will reportedly cover the cost to replace the frame of any affected Tundra, provided that the rusted holes are at least 10 millimeters in diameter and the powertrain is in working order. The rust-induced holes also have to be in certain strategic areas to be eligible, and the Japanese automaker will provide a loaner vehicle while your truck is in the shop. This frame replacement procedure reportedly costs up to $10,000. Toyota is offering to replace frames of the 2000-2003 Tundras until April of 2012.

    I am the original owner of a 2002 4cyl. Tacoma Pre-Runner. Back around 2007 when I lived in CA., I doing heavy research on the rusty frames issue. But IT WAS ALWAYS LIMITED TO 95-2000 Tacos. Since my 02 was already exhibiting light surface rust, this was frustrated the !*!!!%^ out of me! I registered on all the complaint forums etc. even took my Taco to the local dealership were I was told ..”no issue” at the time. So here we are 5 years later. My TACO now resides in FL and I’ve read about 01-04 models getting sprayed and in some cases replaced! I feel like I missed the boat on this and it’s very sad since I was one of the earlier advocates to bring some attention to those with 01-04 models back in 2007. Can someone please help me out? Can I register my TACO on this site as a new/or original owner? How can I get the word out to Toyota that I need my car worked on esp. now that it has even more rust and is sitting literally a stones’ throw from the Gulf in FL. Thanks so much for any help.
